An exhibition and short film was also screened during the occasion. The university which started with just two courses and 4,000 students in 1985, has today evolved into the world's largest, most diverse and inclusive institution, offering over 3,500 courses and catering to over three million students.
Around 80 teams from schools across the city participated in the quiz contest. Six teams qualified for the main round. Talking about the wide range of academic programmes offered by IGNOU and the massive potential for millions to benefit from them, V N Rajasekharan Pillai, vice chancellor, IGNOU said, "The future is in the hand of the youngsters and they are going to contribute a lot to this world."
From audio-visual round to identifying a personality, the quizmaster made it all very interesting for the audience and the participants. Questions were prepared for the audience as well and whoever answered them correctly also won prizes. Teams SKCH-4 and SKCH- 1, both from Sri Kumaran Children's Home CBSE School, bagged the first and the second prizes respectively. Other participating schools were Deeksha School, National Hill View School and Christ Junior College.
